Where to eat in Cabo.
After three years of hosting in Cabo, these are the spots I send every guest to — the places I'd take my own family. From hole-in-the-wall taco joints to the Italian dinner you'll talk about for months, here's a real local's shortlist.
Los Tres Gallos
A grand, open-air courtyard restaurant serving the Mexican classics done right — chile rellenos, mole, pozole. Featured in the Michelin Guide and a long-time downtown favorite for a reason.
La Lupita
Hands-down the best taco menu in Cabo — creative, beautifully plated, served in a colorful courtyard with live music most nights. The mezcal list goes deep.
Salvatore G's
A Galluzzo family institution since 2004, tucked into a tropical courtyard near the marina. The portions are huge, the lasagna is legendary, and the service feels like you're at a Sunday dinner.
Seared
When you want to celebrate. A Hubert Keller steakhouse with one of the best ocean views in town, dramatic lighting, and the kind of wine list that makes the night feel special.
WTF Burger Bar
Sometimes you just want a great burger. Marina-side, family-friendly, with imported beef and the kind of milkshakes the kids will remember. The owner cooked at Vegas hotels for 25 years and it shows.
Tiki Bar
A breezy marina-side spot for tropical drinks, fresh sushi, and prime people-watching as the boats come and go. Pure vacation mode with a front-row seat to Cabo's harbour.
Tabasco's
Loungers in the sand, palm trees overhead, and the best wood-fired pizza in Cabo. Tabasco's is the kind of place where you order a round, watch the boats roll in, and end up staying all afternoon.
Hooliganz
A Canadian-owned sports bar and a slice of home in Cabo — the best spot in town to catch the Leafs, Raptors, or Blue Jays. Cold beers, every game on every screen, and a build-your-own burger menu that's a step above your average pub fare.
"Need a reservation? Just message Ceci — she'll get you in, and she always knows where the locals are eating this week."

Cabo is more than the marina. From whales breaching past Land's End to secret snorkel coves and one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world — here's the shortlist of what's worth your time, with a tip from me on each.
El Arco & Land's End
The iconic rock arch where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific. Take a glass-bottom boat from the marina to see Lover's Beach, Divorce Beach, and the resident sea lion colony.
Whale Watching
Humpback and gray whales migrate to Cabo every winter — and you'll often see them breaching from the Casa Benvie terrace. For a closer look, a small-boat tour with a marine biologist is unforgettable.
Snorkeling at Chileno Bay
Chileno and Santa Maria Bays are protected marine areas with calm, clear water — ideal for first-timers and kids. Expect parrotfish, pufferfish, rays, and the occasional sea turtle.
Quivira Golf Club
A Jack Nicklaus signature course on dramatic clifftops over the Pacific — regularly named one of the most spectacular in the world. As a Tramonti renter, you have access.
Lover's Beach
A tiny stretch of sand tucked between the rock formations at Land's End — only reachable by boat. The Sea of Cortez side is calm for swimming; the Pacific side ("Divorce Beach") is dramatic.
Médano Beach
The main swimmable beach in Cabo — calm water, soft sand, and a row of beach clubs serving food and drinks all day. Watch the Arch from a lounger with a margarita in hand.
Sport Fishing Charter
Cabo is the marlin capital of the world. Half-day charters target dorado, tuna, and roosterfish; full-day trips chase striped and blue marlin. Most local restaurants will cook your catch.
ATV & Camel Desert Tour
Ride ATVs through cactus-studded desert and out to the Pacific dunes, then meet the resident camels for a quick beach ride. Surprisingly fun for adults and kids alike.
San José del Cabo Art Walk
Every Thursday night from November through June, the historic Gallery District in San José del Cabo opens its doors with wine, music, and local art. The town itself is charming any day of the week.
Todos Santos Day Trip
A designated Pueblo Mágico about an hour north on the Pacific side. Surf town meets art town — galleries, the famous Hotel California, taco stands, and quiet beaches.
Frequently asked questions.
Everything you need to know before you book — and a few things first-time Cabo visitors always ask.
-
October through May offers the best weather — warm days, low humidity, and minimal rain. December through April is peak season with whale watching and the warmest ocean temperatures. June through September is hotter and falls in hurricane season, but rates are lower and crowds are thinner.
-
Casa Benvie is approximately a 40-minute drive from Los Cabos International Airport (SJD). We can recommend trusted private shuttle services that meet you at arrivals and bring you straight to the condo.
-
Yes. Cabo San Lucas is one of the safest tourist destinations in Mexico, with a heavy police and tourism-security presence in resort and downtown areas. As with any travel destination, use common sense — stay in well-lit areas at night, use Uber or trusted taxi services, and don't flash valuables.
-
We recommend using bottled or filtered water for drinking, as is standard throughout Mexico. We provide purified water at the condo and there is a refill station nearby. Tap water is fine for showering and brushing teeth.
-
Most guests don't need one. Casa Benvie is an 8–10 minute drive from downtown and the marina, and Uber is reliable and affordable in Cabo (typically $5–$10 per ride). A rental car is helpful if you plan to explore Todos Santos, the East Cape, or take day trips on your own schedule.
-
Everything you need: fully stocked kitchen, coffee maker, air fryer, BBQ on the terrace, beach and pool towels, beach chairs, binoculars for whale watching, basketball and pickleball equipment, body wash, shampoo, and high-speed wifi. You also have access to the Tramonti pool, kids' pool, gym, lounge with pool table, and pickleball courts. No cleaning fee.
-
Yes — between December and April, you can often see humpback whales breaching directly from the terrace and living room. We provide binoculars to help you spot them. The view of Land's End and the Sea of Cortez means you have a front-row seat all season.
-
Absolutely. Casa Benvie sleeps six (king bed in the primary, two twins in the second bedroom, and a sleeper sofa in the living room) and the Tramonti complex has a kids' pool, basketball court, and quiet residential setting. Many of our guests come as families and our reviews reflect that.

Hi, I'm Matt.
I'm a small-town Nova Scotian, born and raised in Hilden and now based in Halifax. By day, I run Evolve Fitness alongside my identical twin brother Mitch — a community of gyms across Nova Scotia voted Halifax's #1 gym every year since 2014.
Cabo is like my second home — and the place I've always wanted to share. Casa Benvie is named for our family, designed for the kind of trip where everything just works: a perfect coffee on the terrace, a quiet swim before the day starts, dinner reservations already handled.
I believe in moving every day, giving back to your community, and making people feel genuinely welcome. Through Evolve we've raised over a million dollars for cancer research, local charities, and Christmas toy drives. We've built a culture (thanks to our amazing clients) around showing up for each other. I'm bringing that same care to how we host you in Cabo.
If something needs sorting during your stay, my on-the-ground partner Ceci has you covered. If you want a restaurant recommendation, a workout suggestion, or just a chat — I'm one email away.

The view from the terrace at sunrise is something we'll talk about for years. Mathew and Ceci thought of everything.
Quiet, immaculate, and the pool was the perfect ending to every day. We'll be back.
Easy walk to a great little café and market, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Felt like a real home.
